The Social Responsibilities Round Table works to make ALA more democratic and to establish progressive priorities not only for the Association, but also for the entire profession. Concern for human and economic rights was an important element in the founding of SRRT and remains an urgent concern today. SRRT believes that libraries and librarians must recognize and help solve social problems and inequities in order to carry out their mandate to work for the common good and bolster democracy.

Hi all--posting on behalf of the Library Services for Alzheimer's and Dementia Interest Group:
May is Older Americans Month. Libraries have an important role in serving this population in our communities. Unfortunately, a growing percentage of older Americans are being diagnosed with Alzheimer's or other related dementias. According to the Alzheimer's Association, nearly 7 million Americans are living with Alzheimer's. by 2050, this number is projected to rise to nearly 13 million.
LSDA, the Library Services for patrons with Dementia & Alzheimer's interest group is currently conducting a survey of libraries nationwide in an effort to build a database of programming resources that can be shared with all libraries to help better serve this growing segment of our communities.
