SRRT (Social Responsibilities Round Table)

The Social Responsibilities Round Table works to make ALA more democratic and to establish progressive priorities not only for the Association, but also for the entire profession. Concern for human and economic rights was an important element in the founding of SRRT and remains an urgent concern today. SRRT believes that libraries and librarians must recognize and help solve social problems and inequities in order to carry out their mandate to work for the common good and bolster democracy.

  • 1.  Feminist Task Force meeting: April 28, 1:00 Central, Zoom

    Posted Mar 17, 2023 02:44 PM
    Hi all,
With the combination of the pandemic and the transition from Midwinter Meetings to LibLearnX, we have not had the chance to meet as a task force very much over the past few years!
I am scheduling an FTF meeting for Friday, April 28th, at 1:00 Central. (If my calculations are correct, this is 3:30 in Newfoundland, 3:00 Atlantic, 2:00 Eastern, noon Mountain, 11:00 Pacific, 10:00 in Alaska, and 8:00 in Hawaii.)
Folks who have not previously been involved with FTF, but who are interested in what we do, are welcome to attend.
We'll meet on Zoom, and I'll send out a link and an agenda closer to the date. If you have a project or an idea that fits into our general mandate (feminist-adjacent things, library-adjacent things) that you would like to bring to the group for consideration, please send me a note.
We will also hear from the Rise: A Feminist Book project committee, talk about plans for ALA Annual, and solicit interest in FTF leadership positions.
One disclaimer: it looks very, very likely that my union, the UPEI Faculty Association, will be going on strike on Monday. In the event that we are still on strike at the end of April, I will reschedule this meeting. However, I hope we will have a fair contract by then, and I wanted to get this on everyone's calendars now.
    Thanks,
    Katelyn Browne
    FTF coordinator

Sorry, all, apparently I had an old SRRT Zoom link and it is now invalid.

Here's a corrected link for the meeting, which will begin in 20 minutes: https://ala-events.zoom.us/j/99436180731?pwd=cnJPM0d2WlN4bCtzU1NlY3Y4TUsvUT09
