The Social Responsibilities Round Table works to make ALA more democratic and to establish progressive priorities not only for the Association, but also for the entire profession. Concern for human and economic rights was an important element in the founding of SRRT and remains an urgent concern today. SRRT believes that libraries and librarians must recognize and help solve social problems and inequities in order to carry out their mandate to work for the common good and bolster democracy.

    The DC area transit system, Metro, has posted signs advertising jobs for Border Patrol agents who surveill and arrest immigrants trying to enter the US, often violently. To show solidarity with immigrant workers, build a movement with Metro workers, and oppose this fascist agency, the Progressive Labor Party and friends demand that Metro remove the signs. 

    US immigration policy has created a wave of fear to threaten people and create divisions among workers.  ALA has been a haven for immigrants and needs to continue. Please read the flier, sign our petition, and contact Metro's Customer Service to fill out the form:
