The Social Responsibilities Round Table works to make ALA more democratic and to establish progressive priorities not only for the Association, but also for the entire profession. Concern for human and economic rights was an important element in the founding of SRRT and remains an urgent concern today. SRRT believes that libraries and librarians must recognize and help solve social problems and inequities in order to carry out their mandate to work for the common good and bolster democracy.

    Dear SRRT Members:

SRRT needs YOU! Please consider running for SRRT Action Council.

Action Council is the coordinating body of the Social Responsibilities Round Table. Members of Action Council are responsible for planning SRRT's priorities, approving resolutions, identifying and approving projects and programs, approving expenditures, and administering awards. Now is your chance to help shape the future of SRRT!

Terms are for three years beginning July 1, 2025. Action Council meets during the Annual conferences and virtually throughout the year, often monthly. Additional communication between meetings occurs via Connect.

SRRT has three open positions for the 2025-2028 term. Current Action Council members whose terms are up are eligible to run again.

To run for a position, fill out the  Candidate Biographical Form no later than December 13, 2024. Elections will occur in the spring with the results announced in April 2025.

If you'd like to learn more about serving on the Action Council, please reach out and I'd be happy to answer any questions!
