The Social Responsibilities Round Table works to make ALA more democratic and to establish progressive priorities not only for the Association, but also for the entire profession. Concern for human and economic rights was an important element in the founding of SRRT and remains an urgent concern today. SRRT believes that libraries and librarians must recognize and help solve social problems and inequities in order to carry out their mandate to work for the common good and bolster democracy.

    Dear Colleagues, 

    The SRRT Newsletter is looking for good articles, essays, and letters to the editor. The next submission deadline is March 18, 2025. Our theme will be Protecting Library Workers. How do we protect ourselves and our employees? How can we support each other while also protecting our own mental health and well-being? Share your ideas and initiatives that your library or organization is currently taking or planning. 

    General SRRT Newsletter submissions can be sent to srrt.newsletter.content@gmail.com or banhatenotbooks@gmail.com 

    SRRT Newsletter Reviews and Letters to the Editors submissions should be sent to Laura Koltutsky, laurakoltutsky@gmail.com  

     We are also seeking picture submissions with captions for an upcoming article titled, "Library Workers Resisting Tyranny." Have you spoken at a school board or county/municipal council meeting to support your local libraries? Have you participated in a protest march or attended a town hall meeting? We want to hear from YOU! Your voices and courage to stand up and speak out for libraries and social justice are crucial to preserving our democracy.
