The Social Responsibilities Round Table works to make ALA more democratic and to establish progressive priorities not only for the Association, but also for the entire profession. Concern for human and economic rights was an important element in the founding of SRRT and remains an urgent concern today. SRRT believes that libraries and librarians must recognize and help solve social problems and inequities in order to carry out their mandate to work for the common good and bolster democracy.

Hello!  I'm editing a LIS career options book for Bloomsbury Libraries Unlimited and am looking for a few more contributors to fill some gaps (more specific detail below).  The book will include first-hand accounts from working information professionals in a wide variety of jobs, sharing career experiences and advice.

If you're interested in being considered as a contributor or in learning more, please email me at priscilla.shontz.lis@gmail.com and tell me a tiny bit about what you do and where you work.  Please share with friends and colleagues who might be interested.

Of course this gap list is constantly changing, but some of the potential authors that are unconfirmed at the moment might include:

Public: YA/teen, multimedia, deaf/blind/special populations, bookmobile, rural, tribal, outreach, user experience, marketing, social media
School: public high school, district admin
Academic: gov docs, emerging tech, serials, special collections, cataloging, one-person or very small library, access services, user experience, first year experience, outreach, social media, systems
Special: law, correctional, armed forces, police, corporate, personal, etc.
Outside: advocate, trainer, author, publisher, patent researcher, records/data manager, competitive intelligence, information architecture, marketing, knowledge organization, indexer, association, etc.
I'm also trying to diversify location.  Here are the US states I do not have confirmed yet (I don't expect to include all, but would love to include as many as possible):   Alaska, Arkansas, Delaware, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Maine, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Utah, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, Wisconsin, Wyoming.
Please feel free to email me with interest, suggestions, questions, anything.  Thank you!

    Priscilla
