The Social Responsibilities Round Table works to make ALA more democratic and to establish progressive priorities not only for the Association, but also for the entire profession. Concern for human and economic rights was an important element in the founding of SRRT and remains an urgent concern today. SRRT believes that libraries and librarians must recognize and help solve social problems and inequities in order to carry out their mandate to work for the common good and bolster democracy.

    Posted 21 days ago

    Hello!

I'm a member of the Intellectual Freedom Round Table's Oboler Award Committee, writing to encourage nominations for the 2026 Eli M. Oboler Award.

This year ALA's Intellectual Freedom Round Table is soliciting nominations for articles on the topic of intellectual freedom. This can include matters of ethical, political, or social concerns related to intellectual freedom. The article should have been published on the local, state, or national level in English or English translation in the 2024 or 2025 calendar years up through the end of December 2025. You can find more details and the submission form at the Oboler Award website.

Submissions are due by January 30, 2026.

Please feel free to share this request broadly!

    Thank you!

Annah Hackett on behalf of the 2026 Eli M. Oboler Memorial Award Committee
