The Social Responsibilities Round Table works to make ALA more democratic and to establish progressive priorities not only for the Association, but also for the entire profession. Concern for human and economic rights was an important element in the founding of SRRT and remains an urgent concern today. SRRT believes that libraries and librarians must recognize and help solve social problems and inequities in order to carry out their mandate to work for the common good and bolster democracy.

The Social Responsibilities Round Table (SRRT) is pleased to sponsor Amanda He as our 2023 Emerging Leader. The sponsorship consists of a $1000 award towards attendance at the LibLearnX virtual event and ALA Annual Conference in Chicago. As SRRT's Emerging Leader, Amanda will attend a virtual day-long leadership session at LibLearnX with additional online training that will continue for six months. At the ALA 2023 Annual Conference in Chicago, Amanda and her team will present a poster session showcasing the results of their project.

Amanda He (she/her) is the Librarian for STEM Instruction and Engagement at New York University's Dibner Library. In her role, she serves as a subject liaison and creates interactive and accessible programming to engage students. Her research interests are centered around how to better support BIPOC-identifying college students in the STEM field. In 2020-2021, she received the ALA Spectrum Scholarship and the ILA Sylvia Murphy Scholarship. Prior to working at NYU, she completed her MS/LIS at University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign while working full time as the E-Resources Associate at Loyola University Chicago.

Amanda is SRRT's fourth sponsored Emerging Leader. The round table sponsored Nicola Andrews in 2019, Kayla Kuni in 2020/1, and Jessica Kirk in 2022.
