The Social Responsibilities Round Table works to make ALA more democratic and to establish progressive priorities not only for the Association, but also for the entire profession. Concern for human and economic rights was an important element in the founding of SRRT and remains an urgent concern today. SRRT believes that libraries and librarians must recognize and help solve social problems and inequities in order to carry out their mandate to work for the common good and bolster democracy.

Good afternoon, fellow members of SRRT,

Ian Bogus is a write-in candidate for the SRRT Action Council.

I believe that libraries are a cornerstone of any well-functioning democracy. With our fingers on the pulse of our communities, it is our imperative to provide services where we can, and advocacy where we can't. It would be an honor to serve on the SRRT Action Council. If elected I will work with the Council to develop progressive programming at ALA to help librarians achieve socially responsible goals both locally and nationally.

    About me:
Ian has served as the Executive Director of ReCAP since November 2017 where he is responsible for the operations of a close-knit consortium jointly owned and operated by the libraries at Columbia University, Harvard University, and Princeton University as well as the Research Libraries at The New York Public Library. From 2010 to 2017, Ian was the inaugural MacDonald Curator of Preservation at the University of Pennsylvania Libraries where he developed their first comprehensive preservation program. He also held positions at both Rutgers University and Yale University.
