**Please excuse cross-posting.**
Good afternoon,
I am conducting a research study (CUNY IRB # 2019-1047) to explore how librarians act as boundary spanners in their roles in academic, public, school, and special libraries. For the purpose of this research, boundary spanning includes acting as a bridge or facilitator between two or more groups (i.e. school and community group, public library and homeless shelter, academic library and academic advising department, etc.). A key component of this bridge/facilitator role is brokering and sharing information, a function for which librarians should be uniquely qualified, although there is scant literature on librarians acting in boundary spanning roles.
If you have a specific situation or scenario in which you acted in a boundary spanning role in your position as a librarian in any setting, and would be interested in sharing your narrative for this study, please contact me directly at vterrile@qcc.cuny.edu.
Please note that participation in this project is voluntary; there will be no compensation for participation.
Please also feel free to pass this request along to others in your circle who may be interested.
Thank you!
