The Social Responsibilities Round Table works to make ALA more democratic and to establish progressive priorities not only for the Association, but also for the entire profession. Concern for human and economic rights was an important element in the founding of SRRT and remains an urgent concern today. SRRT believes that libraries and librarians must recognize and help solve social problems and inequities in order to carry out their mandate to work for the common good and bolster democracy.

    Loyola University Chicago (Loyola) seeks nominations and applications to identify user-focused and forward-thinking candidates for the position of Civic Engagement Librarian. This position will coordinate library programs and services that recognize and support the civic dimension of university life; manage participation in the Federal Depository Library Program (FDLP); contribute to government grant-seeking activities; serve as library liaison for one or more academic departments or programs; and participate in other library programming and information services. Loyola encourages applications from underrepresented groups and from those with diverse backgrounds and life experiences.

    This is a non-tenured Library faculty position with opportunities for promotion. The successful candidate will be based on either the Lake Shore or Water Tower campus, depending upon liaison assignment(s), though will have responsibilities in both locations.
