The Social Responsibilities Round Table works to make ALA more democratic and to establish progressive priorities not only for the Association, but also for the entire profession. Concern for human and economic rights was an important element in the founding of SRRT and remains an urgent concern today. SRRT believes that libraries and librarians must recognize and help solve social problems and inequities in order to carry out their mandate to work for the common good and bolster democracy.

    Hi everyone,

I apologize for the late notice about this important webinar on voting and libraries:

Following a panel discussion ("Civic Duty: Libraries and the Disenfranchised") at the ALA 2020 Virtual Conference, the Government Documents Round Table is hosting a follow-up conversation on "Libraries and Voter Engagement in 2020 and Beyond." Join librarians and panelists from Democracy Works, VoteRiders, and abcVOTE for a discussion on how libraries of all types can engage their communities in election participation.
The webinar will be held on Thursday, Sept 17th @ 2:30 ET.
    Hope to see you there,
    Kian, GODORT Education Comm Chair.

Unfortunately my schedule was already booked up by the time I saw this notice, but I was just wondering if a recording of this webinar will be available after the fact to view.  I'm very passionate about this issue, and I'm an elected official in the community, outside of my library role, so I'm connected to a lot of other people who I think would love to help us advocate more for civic literacy work through our institution.

Drop a line when you can and thank you,
    Nick
