Marsha P. Burgess is the Council Secretariat in the Governance Office of the American Library Association (ALA).
Marsha has worked at the ALA for over 25 years and contributes her expertise in Board of Director support in agenda building, documents, meeting logistics and planning.
In addition, Marsha is dedicated to improving the communication between staff and ALA member leadership and has served as the go to person for in-house deliverables and vendor relationship management. As well as updating internal procedures within the ALA Governance office for ALA Council.
Prior to serving as Council Secretariat, Marsha served as the Program Coordinator for the Association for Library Service to Children (ALSC) and in that role she coordinated the appointment process for over 60 committees and task forces. Served as staff liaison to the ALSC Board and Executive Committee. Staff liaison for the ALSC portion of the ALA Ballot; scheduled hundreds of meetings; meeting minutes, expense reporting and prepared scripts for the ALSC Award ceremonies during the ALA Annual Conference.
In her personal life, Marsha is a wife and mother of four beautiful children.
