Karen Nourse Reed is an Assistant Professor at Middle Tennessee State University, where she works at James E. Walker Library as the Education Librarian. She provides subject liaison expertise to MTSU's College of Education, and also manages Walker Library's Curriculum Collection, an area devoted to K-12 resources. Karen came to MTSU from southwestern Virginia where she was the librarian for a Title-1 designated middle school of nearly 1000 students. She approaches K-12 education as a ministry, having experienced first-hand the power school librarians have to effect meaningful change in the lives of young people. Karen holds a Master of Library & Information Science degree from UNC-Greensboro and a Master of Science in Education from Radford University. She earned her Ph.D. from MTSU's Literacy Studies program.
