Misty Maberry is a Library and Information Science student currently based in Dallas, Texas. She is working towards a Master’s Degree at the University of North Texas. Her degree track is Information Organization, and with her degree she is concurrently earning a Certificate in Digital Content Management. Elective coursework in preservation and special collections has been chosen to satisfy the basic requirements to eventually test to attain Provisional Certification with the Academy of Certified Archivists.
It was Misty’s undergraduate studies, which had a focus in photography, that piqued her interest in preservation, archiving, and digital content. She graduated from The University of Texas at Dallas with a Bachelor’s Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies – Arts & Business Management. Misty worked extensively in black and white darkroom, developing her own film, printing negatives, and experimenting with light and alternative processes such as solarization, Van Dyke printing and cyanotypes. The importance of proper handling and preservation techniques was instilled in her from these experiences. She is also very experienced in digital photography, negative scanning, and digital editing and re-touching.
