In the January 2021 issue's "From the SRRT Coordinator" column, we erroneously referred to Herb Biblo as "the first minority to serve as ALA Treasurer." While Mr. Biblo was of Jewish descent, and while Jews are a minority in the United States, the intention behind the word "minority" is to highlight ...

Thanks, Susan. I hope referral is on the table at Council. I said what I said because I've had the experience of not knowing what to do with a resolution I wanted to move and being intimidated by approaching people within the structure. I had also heard that some personal member movers (from other resolutions) ...

I am more than certain I am speaking out of ignorance here. But I do wonder if this is more an issue of the complexity and opacity of our organization from the perspective of many personal members than willful oversight of protocol. I was grateful that Ed Sanchez, Resolutions Committee chair, read from ...

I too speak in favor of voting YES for this resolution. Its scope is intentionally very narrow, focused only on the rescinding of the meeting rooms interpretations passed by Council in June 2018. Voting YES will not be to accept a new revision. The new language is still being worked on by the IFC's working ...

Dear Councilors, The drafters of the resolution heard great feedback on the language and have made changes to the second resolved clause as a result. Thank you so much to those who provided feedback and added your names as seconders! Unfortunately, we've had to close down feedback to the resolution earlier ...

The paper texts had been a safety net and I had found I had to make ample use of them this Annual conference. ...

Many, many thanks to the ALA IFC for the work you've all invested in creating the drafts of the EDI and the Politics in Libraries interpretations of the Library Bill of Rights. One general comment I'd like to make for both documents--I am heartened to see that the concept of libraries-as-neutral-spaces ...
