    Hello members of RDA-L,

I would not ordinarily send a message like this to RDA-L as I realize you would see it in other places. However, because of problems with ALA Connect, I am unable to share this information in many of the ALA Connect spaces.

On September 12, 2024, OCLC expects to install changes to WorldCat Validation, including the following new features and enhancements:

This validation installation includes the following new features and enhancements:

    • OCLC-MARC Validations of New MARC Codes Announced April 17-July 30, 2024
      • Classification Scheme Source Codes
      • Genre/Form Code and Term Source Codes
      • MARC Code List for Relators
      • Name and Title Authority Source Codes
      • Resource Action Term Source Codes
      • Standard Identifier Source Codes
      • Subject Category Code Source Codes
      • Subject Heading and Term Source Codes
    • MARC 21 Bibliographic Update No. 38 (Announced June 2024)
    • MARC 21 Authority Update No. 38 (Announced June 2024) to the Validation Rule Set that Includes All Valid Elements of MARC 21 Authority Format
    • Relationship between Bibliographic 008/39 and field 040 subfield $a NLC

The following bug fix will also be included:

    • Correction to validation for 6xx fields when replacing a bibliographic record

These features and enhancements are the result of announcements of new MARC elements and codes by the Library of Congress as well as feedback and requests from members of the OCLC cooperative.

See the WorldCat Validation Release Notes, September 2024 at oc.lc/validation-release-notes for more details of the changes that we hope to install on September 12, 2024.

Please forgive any duplication of this message.
