  • 1.  Resolution opposing Title IX protections passes in the House

    Posted 4 days ago

    Update from the PPA office:

This morning, unfortunately, the House passed H.J.Res. 165, which would overturn the Biden Administration's Title IX rule affirming nondiscrimination protections in schools, colleges, and libraries that receive Education Department funds, including for LGBTQ+ library workers and users. ALA's opposition to the resolution was noted during debate on the House floor.

It is unclear if the resolution will come up for a vote in the Senate. Please use the ALA action center to contact your Congressmembers, if you haven't yet. If the Senate were to pass it, President Biden would be expected to veto it.

Sigh. Thank you for keeping us up to date on this one, Ed. Alas... all the more reason for us to track discrimination within ALA offices.
