The November Virtual AskQC Office Hour focuses on linked data.   Join us either Tuesday, 12 November at 10:00 am EST or Thursday, 21 November at 4:00 pm EST , whichever is more convenient for you, for Bridging the gap between records and linked data. Not every library is on the same trajectory of adopting linked data. Some are already there, some are looking to make the leap, while others are still assessing how linked data maps to their current and future workflows. OCLC is committed to supporting libraries wherever they are on the journey to linked data. Our recent work to add WorldCat Entities to WorldCat records is one example of how libraries, not quite ready for linked data, can start to leverage the benefits of linked data while remaining in a MARC centric workflow. OCLC has also integrated much of the WorldCat Entities and Meridian editing functionality into current MARC cataloging tools like Record Manager to allow catalogers to start to work with and integrate linked data into their current cataloging workflows. Jeff Mixter and Charlene Morrison will discuss how this work can impact libraries today as well as how they fit into the strategy for eventual migration to linked data based bibliographic management.

Registration links are here. On the Previous AskQC Office Hours page, you may access the recordings, slides, and Q&A from past VAOH presentations. When you register, you will receive an email reminder before your chosen session along with a link to the WebEx event. All Virtual AskQC Office Hours are available from OCLC at no charge.
