John Meier is a Science Librarian at the Physical and Mathematical Sciences Library in the Penn State University Libraries at University Park. His responsibilities include instruction, collection development, reference, and investigating methods of delivering library information and services. He is also the depository librarian for the US Patent and Trademark Depository and liaison to the departments of Mathematics and Statistics. John holds an MLIS from the University of Pittsburgh and MS in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University. He was selected as an Emerging Leader of the American Library Association for 2011 and is currently the secretary for the Science and Technology Section of the Association of College and Research Libraries. He has received other awards including the ALA/EBSCO Conference Sponsorship in 2008 and the 3M/NMRT Professional Development Grant in 2007. His current research interests lie in using innovative technology to help library users and enhance the workflow of library professionals.
