Hello new and veteran Universal Accessibility Interest Group Members!

Welcome, welcome! As we start a new academic year, we want to hear from you!
    • What would you like to discuss this year in this space?
    • What are you working on related to accessibility?
    • Where else do you go for accessibility information?
    ---
If your institution is an EDUCAUSE member, I highly recommend their accessibility interest group. It includes folks from across academia and is varied and active.

    Hi everyone,

I'm excited to learn your thoughts on universal accessibility. It's vital not just for our patrons, but also for our own professional engagement and development. I've been researching conference attendance preferences, envisioning virtual and hybrid conferencing as a path toward the greater goal of universal accessibility to professional engagement for all in libraries and archives, particularly neurodivergent, physically challenged, early career, underfunded, unsupported, and precariously employed workers. I presented on my 2022 Survey of Conference Attendance Preferences at ALA in June as part the Digital Experience: Expanding Professional Engagement Through Online Conference Access: Working Toward Inclusive and Effective Hybrid Models. July 12, I'm presenting at the Society of American Archivists Research Forum (free online conference) on User Centered Conferencing for the Future of the Archival Profession, which frames conference planning within the perspective of diverse potential attendees, not just those who regularly attend. I hope you can join me at the forum – lots of fresh ideas!

    Hello all,

I hope everyone is doing well. Anaya, thank you for these questions.

I would love to discuss OER/OA and AI/Chat GPT in relation to universal accessibility. In regards to other information regarding universal accessibility, I speak to my colleagues across the University (Student Disability Services, University Learning Center, Distributed Education, etc). I also attend online and in-person webinar/training sessions and read various literature about what others are doing.

    Best,
    Nicole

    Hello everyone!

I am part of this group because as the Student Engagement Librarian, I have to think a lot about accessibility when designing materials or programming for our library. I'm also an early career librarian so I'm trying to learn as much as I can. My grad program was great but there is still so much to learn! I look forward to learning more from all of you!
