Vote for our May Discussion Group topic!!

  • 1.  Vote for our May Discussion Group topic!!

    Posted May 12, 2025 01:42 PM

Greetings, AI DG folks!  Ginny and I are working hard to plan our May discussion group meetup, and we need your input!  We'd like to focus this month's session on two topics: first, a news roundup, in which we'll ask you to share any articles, podcasts, or other sources of interest with the group.  What has caught your attention lately in the AI space?

And second, we'd love to coordinate the group in doing a shared reading together, then taking time in our meeting at the end of the month to discuss together.  Ginny had the fabulous idea to choose from among the AI-focused papers shared in April's ACRL 2025 Conference Proceedings. To that end, we invite you to vote in the comments below for the paper you'd most like to discuss at our May meetup - - to keep things simple, you can just copy/paste the article or articles you're most interested in, and then Ginny and I will tally them up and choose the highest-ranked article to be our discussion topic at the May meetup:

Please post your vote in the comments below by this Friday, May 16th!  Ginny and I will announce the winner next Monday, and then we'll aim for a meetup in the final week of May.  Looking forward to seeing you all soon!

    Heather

PS - - we'll have more details available soon about our AI DG Meetup at ALA Annual as well!

Thanks for these links! I'd like to vote for this one:

    • An AI Community of Practice: Results and Insights, Michael Flierl and Emma Slayton
(Because I love their closing sentence:
"Ultimately, either we help to shape the future of AI or it will shape us. We argue for a community-oriented approach grounded in both a shared interest of generative AI and a commitment to the core values that continue to guide academic librarianship. Together-we can work to align AI towards our interests and values instead of the other way around.")

If we are allowed a second vote, I think this one looks very interesting:

    Thanks!
