California University of Science and Medicine in Colton, California is seeking a part-time volunteer to provide general support to Info Commons visitors. The position is ideal for someone planning to retire or a student considering a career in health sciences librarianship. Information Commons/Info Desk Specialist
Part time/15-20 hours per week
Non-Exempt
Compensation: unpaid or college credit
Items Used
Computers, typical office equipment, library resources and systems, classroom technology, mobile devices
Position purpose
As a member of the Info Commons team, assists in daily operations including organizing materials, implementing policies and procedures, and performing basic collection development activities
Library Operations
Supports short and long-range performance goals and outcomes for the library
Supports technical service delivery and participates in collection development, cataloging, library system troubleshooting, and interlibrary loan request fulfillments
Contributes to data gathering and data management for analytical purposes. Responsible for accurately reporting metrics of library related initiatives and activities to measure outcomes for improvement
Represents the university library and its operations to all internal and external constituents while modeling and promoting organizational mission, values, and goals
Minimum Requirements
Demonstrated interest in library reference, collection development, information literacy, and/or technical services, processes, and procedures as evident in formal coursework or previous work experience
Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision along with providing excellent customer service skills and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others
