The IS PRIMO Committee is transforming!

    (Please excuse any cross-posting.)

The ACRL Instruction Section Peer-Reviewed Instructional Materials Online (PRIMO) Committee has exciting news about some changes to our committee's work and how we recognize excellence in the design and implementation of online learning objects.

First, the PRIMO database, which for the past 20 or so years has featured an archive of excellent library tutorials, will be retired. Unfortunately, the database stopped functioning for unknown reasons in September 2024 and it is unclear whether we will be able to fix it before the database is scheduled to go offline altogether in spring. However, before the database went down, we were able to preserve a partial list of those whose work was selected for the database, going back about 10 years, and will be reaching out to these tutorial creators with more information about preserving their original recognition.

We are proud of both the work that was done to build this database over the years, as well as the learning objects represented in it, which have served as inspiration for many librarians.

Despite this change, the PRIMO Committee is not going away and the work that we do to recognize the excellent design and implementation of online learning objects is not either.

The committee's name will be changing to the Featured Online Learning Objects Committee. You can read our new charge here: https://www.ala.org/acrl/is/acr-insprimo

The new committee will review and select online learning objects to be featured in creator interviews and webinars in which creators can share their design process. We are excited to begin this transformation and will be soliciting nominations and submissions soon.

Thank you to everyone who has submitted work in the past and who has used the PRIMO database.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact the Featured Online Learning Objects Committee co-chairs, Allison Hosier and Renae Watson.
