Systematic Review Methodologist Consulting Position

  • 1.  Systematic Review Methodologist Consulting Position

    Posted Mar 30, 2023 10:15 AM
A faculty member in genetic counseling shared this with me so I'm passing it along.

The National Society of Genetic Counselors (NSGC) seeks a part-time independent contractor (or multiple contractors) to provide methodological services to support NSGC's clinical practice guidelines development process. This individual (or individuals) will be listed as co-author(s) on any resulting publications. The contracted methodologist(s) will work directly with author groups and report to the NSGC Practice Guidelines Committee (PGC). Time commitment will vary depending on the stage of the document(s) but is not expected to exceed 20 hours per week.

    NSGC Methodologist Duties and Responsibilities

As the PGC Methodologist, the contractor would assume the following duties and responsibilities:

    1.     Plan and execute NSGC's systematic evidence reviews (SERs). Help NSGC launch one-two new SERs in 2023:

Train group members in the SER process

Guide and provide oversight of the review process, data abstraction, and quality assessment using specialty software (Covidence). Create and maintain data extraction and quality assessment templates in the software for each project

    2.     Oversee the methodological process for 1-2 clinical practice guideline or consensus documents using GRADE and Delphi methodology.

    3.     Assist in updating and revising NSGC's Practice Guideline Development Manual.

    4.     Attend, participate in, and lead as appropriate, PGC author group calls.

    5.     Work closely with the PGC Chairs, PGC Staff Liaison, PGC author-group liaisons, and author group leaders on a regular basis; develop collaborative working processes with author groups.

    Ideal candidates will:

    1. Have a deep understanding of genetic counseling literature.
    2. Have familiarity with Covidence, GRADE, Delphi, Endnote and other library-management tools.
