    Dear Academic Librarians,
I am George Yi, a lecturer in the School of Information & Communication Studies at Charles Sturt University, Australia.
Ying-Hsang Liu, Pa Pa Khin and I are currently conducting a study titled Academic Librarians' Perceptions of New Skills and Competencies in the Age of Artificial Intelligence. This study has been reviewed and approved by the Charles Sturt University's Human Research Ethics Committee in Australia.
This study aims to investigate the new skills and competencies crucial for academic librarians with the increasing integration of artificial intelligence (AI) in services and operations. AI is transforming various library operations, including cataloguing, reference and research data management, and calling for a transition in professional capabilities. The proposed research project will identify the new skills and competencies that academic librarians need to effectively utilize AI tools, mitigate associated potential risks and adapt to changing professional roles.
The findings will be helpful for academic librarians' training and professional development and curriculum renewal. You are cordially invited to participate in this study.
