Hello all,
In case you missed it, there is a very promising event, The
Library Evidence Synthesis Services Symposium coming this June. It was announced on this list on March 8 and it sounds like a great conference.
My colleagues at the University of Kansas have noticed an increase in the number of programs (mostly doctoral) that assign some kind of evidence synthesis project. Some are associated with a course, some are used as a replacement for comprehensive exams, and others are required to do the project as part of their dissertation research. This has increased the number of consultation requests for us significantly. We've tried a few approaches to partnering with these programs and are considering others.
We'd like to assemble a panel for the symposium with others who are facing a similar situation. We're not expecting anyone to have the one perfect answer that will work for everyone, but rather to have a discussion with colleagues about what you're seeing, how you're responding, and ideas you're considering.
Please let me know if you're interested in participating in a panel and we can go from there to craft a proposal. Proposals are due on April 17th and the conference is June 24-26th. Please contact us by Wednesday April 3rd if you're interested. We hope to hear from you!
