    Greetings,

    We are conducting a research project aimed at examining the experiences of historically marginalized academic library workers who have experienced microaggressions while serving on diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) committees within academic libraries. (These committees use different names, which may include words like social justice, accessibility, belonging, etc.) Our goal is to publish our work as a chapter in the upcoming book, "Thin Skinned," Unappreciated, and Overworked: Experiences and impacts of Microaggressions in the fields of Galleries, Libraries, Archives, and Museums (Litwin Books & Library Juice Press).

    To be eligible for inclusion in the study, you must be 1) an academic library worker, 2) a member of a historically marginalized group (as defined below), and 3) a past or current member of a DEI committee.  As long as you meet these three criteria, you are eligible for inclusion, whether or not you have experienced microaggressions while on the committee.

    Historically marginalized: For purposes of this study, "historically marginalized" refers to systematic exclusion or mistreatment based on race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability status, or religion. 

    The research project includes an online survey. This survey is expected to take approximately 10- 15 minutes to complete. Responses will be collected online through Qualtrics, a secure survey tool, and will be collected in a manner that will not personally identify participants.  

    Participants must be 18 years or older in order to take this survey. Participation is voluntary, and participants are free to withdraw from the survey at any time. 

    The survey begins with a consent form. By selecting "I consent" at the end of the form, you are certifying that you understand the nature of the research and that you are voluntarily agreeing to participate.
