To provide a forum for fellow PPIRS librarians to share their experiences and ideas about how AI technologies affect their professional work. This group discussion will focus on recent advances in free and subscription generative AI tools that are actively in use by students, faculty, and staff in higher education. As these tools and their underlying technologies are advancing quickly, it is helpful to have an ongoing conversation with our peers to compare best practices and discoveries.

    Dear PPIRS Members,

    We are writing as individual researchers interested in learning more about how librarians supporting the political science and international relations disciplines view Generative Artificial Intelligence (GAI) and AI literacy. We really appreciate all the responses we have received so far to our survey, but if you haven't yet,  please consider taking our brief survey at this link which aims to determine the familiarity and experience of librarians and information professional staff in these fields with GAI concepts and tools as well as AI literacy instruction.  The data collected will be anonymized and the results will inform a research paper presentation at the American Political Science Association (APSA) conference in September 2026. 

    Thank you in advance for completing this survey by Friday March 6. It will provide valuable information for our PPIRS community regarding awareness and deployment of AI tools in this evolving area that is having such a dramatic impact on academia and the work we do as librarians.
