Not really a review because I haven't actually read in full, but...in case you hadn't noticed, the third edition of Systematic Approaches to a Successful Literature Review is out (Booth, A., Sutton, A., Clowes, M., & Martyn-St James, M. (2022). Systematic approaches to a successful literature review. 3rd ed. Sage.).
In comparing the 3rd edition to the 2nd, the new edition has over 100 more pages. This book looks so thorough, and very logically and cleanly laid out. I'm looking forward to hunkering down & reading this--it looks like a really good complement to Gough et al.'s (2017) An Introduction to Systematic Reviews that I've been lugging around.
Here is a list of the chapters:
Chapter 1: Meeting the Review Family: An Overview (yes, the authors wrote that article) -- Chapter 2: Getting Started on your Literature Review -- Chapter 3: Choosing your review methods -- Chapter 4: Defining your scope -- Chapter 5: Searching the literature -- search process -- Chapter 6: Assessing the evidence base -- Chapter 7: Synthesising and analysing quantitative studies -- Chapter 8: Synthesising and analysing qualitative studies -- Chapter 9: Synthesising and analysing mixed methods data -- Chapter 10: Writing up, presenting and disseminating your review.
One chapter the 2nd edition has that 3rd does not is "Managing the Literature Project." But it looks like 3rd has more robust information about other review types and when/how to do them.
Cheers,
Jane
