Not really a review because I haven't actually read in full, but...in case you hadn't noticed, the third edition of Systematic Approaches to a Successful Literature Review is out (Booth, A., Sutton, A., Clowes, M., & Martyn-St James, M. (2022). Systematic approaches to a successful literature review. 3rd ed. Sage.).
In comparing the 3rd edition to the 2nd, the new edition has over 100 more pages. This book looks so thorough, and very logically and cleanly laid out. I'm looking forward to hunkering down & reading this--it looks like a really good complement to Gough et al.'s (2017) An Introduction to Systematic Reviews that I've been lugging around.

Here is a list of the chapters:

Chapter 1: Meeting the Review Family: An Overview (yes, the authors wrote that article) -- Chapter 2: Getting Started on your Literature Review -- Chapter 3: Choosing your review methods -- Chapter 4: Defining your scope -- Chapter 5: Searching the literature -- search process -- Chapter 6: Assessing the evidence base -- Chapter 7: Synthesising and analysing quantitative studies -- Chapter 8: Synthesising and analysing qualitative studies -- Chapter 9: Synthesising and analysing mixed methods data -- Chapter 10: Writing up, presenting and disseminating your review.

One chapter the 2nd edition has that 3rd does not is "Managing the Literature Project." But it looks like 3rd has more robust information about other review types and when/how to do them.
    Cheers,
    Jane

Thank you Jane for the alert!  I'm going to put this book on my list to order.  I was looking around to see if it was available as an ebook (it isn't from GOBI) and I came across some online student tools that accompany the book and are available by creating a free instructor account even without purchasing the book.

This is a list of the tools:

source tracker template to help you keep track of your sources and know what you need to include in your audit trail.

project diary template and example so you can start your project with an organized approach and track your insights along the way.

literature review starter template to demonstrate the sections you need to include for a successful written review.

Data extraction templates to identify the most important information to pull out from qualitative, quantitative, and mixed methods studies.

source credibility checklist to help you assess and think critically about the sources you choose.

collated list of tried-and-tested tools, including freely available technologies to help you search databases efficiently, plan your work, and keep track of references.

A complete glossary of terms to help you understand and revise key concepts.
