  • 1.  NVIVO for organizing a scoping review?

    Posted May 02, 2022 02:40 PM

    Hi all,

Can anyone share any examples of researchers using NVIVO to code articles for a scoping review? I suggested Covidence, however I have no experience with it because it is not offered by our University IT. The patron has NVIVO and is comfortable with it, and thinks this tool could be a good way to code and organize her articles. If you have worked with anyone who did this, can you share your experience and any tips or tricks you may have learned along the way?

    Thanks,

    Elaine

    Hi Elaine,

We do not have access to a subscription-based SR software currently at our University, so we've been regularly using the freely available software Cadima to manage our reviews. https://www.cadima.info/

I've been very happy with the software and the developers are very responsive.

    I'm happy to answer questions.

    All the best,

    Emily

    Elaine,
NVivo, Atlas. ti and other software that analyzes qualitative data are helpful for researchers familiar with them and easy to use for meta-synthesis or qualitative or thematic analysis of texts (research studies).  I will not use them to collect and organize references, so I do deduplication, select and manage in RefWorks, and upload texts into NVivo or Atlas.ti. In addition to manual coding and thematic analysis, both programs allow automatic coding and network analysis. You are welcome to share my guide to NVivo (LR) with your faculty:
