Please join us for the LITA User Experience Interest Group's program
UX-Accessibility: Integrating Accessibility into Your Library's User Experience Planning. This will take place on Saturday, June 23, 10:30am-11:30am, in the Morial Convention Center, Room 386-387.
Our panel of academic and public librarians will discuss how by building on an "accessibility for all" philosophy we can ensure that the needs of users with varying levels of ability are considered as an integral part of the library's overall user experience design approach.
Panelists will include:
Cristen Williams, Library Service Manager for Customer Experience at Arlington Public Library (Arlington, TX), where they have led a movement to change how they view patrons with disabilities in a much more inclusive way.
Michelle Kowalsky, Research & Instructional Services Librarian at Rowan University, Campbell Library. Michelle is co-author of Creating Inclusive Library Environments: A Planning Guide for Serving Patrons with Disabilities (ALA Publications, 2017).
Sarah Horton, UX Strategy Lead at The Paciello Group (TPG) a world-class accessibility consultancy that helps clients achieve end-to-end accessibility in their digital assets (websites, applications, documents, etc.), and assists in embedding accessibility into their processes and procedures. Sarah is co-author of A Web for Everyone: Designing Accessible User Experiences (Rosenfeld Media, 2013).
Stephanie Rosen, Accessibility Specialist, University of Michigan Libraries. Stephanie will talk about the Big Ten Academic Alliance's Library E-Resource Accessibility Group and her own experience at the University of Michigan Libraries.
