  • 1.  List of Ebony magazine photographers?

    Dear AASLIG Colleagues,

I'm assisting a student who needs a list of Ebony magazine photographers. Does anyone know of an extensive compilation?

I've found multiple articles, books, encyclopedia entries, and obituaries that identify one to five photographers for the magazine, especially well-known ones (e.g., Gordon Parks, Moneta Sleet, Jr., Howard Morehead, Isaac Sutton). However, I haven't found a good compilation. We have the new book, Ebony: Covering Black America, but I don't think it's been shelved yet.

For now, the student is using a search I set up of Ebony issues in Google Books. In addition to articles about selected staff photographers, the search pulls staff photographer names from the listing on the contents page.

    Thanks for any suggestions.

    Best,

    Heather
