    Please excuse some cross posting.

The Rowan University Library seeks an Education and Information Services Librarian that will join a high-performance Health Sciences Library team at the Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine (RowanSOM).  RowanSOM will open a second regional campus in Sewell N.J. in July of 2022, adding 72 additional medical students to the class of 2026. The Education and Information Services position in Sewell will serve students in a problem-based curriculum.  The Health Sciences Library offers a wide variety of services across both the Sewell and Stratford campuses, and there are constant demands for library educational support, including the Library as a teaching/mentoring partner in a mandatory 4-year medical scholarship curriculum.

The Education and Information Services Librarian:

    • Designs instructional programs and materials and coordinates both formal and informal educational sessions for students and faculty in the use of library resources, information gathering, and information management techniques.
    • Utilizes new technologies for teaching various subjects and concepts to students, faculty, and staff, and presents orientations on library resources for various groups on campus or virtually.
    • Maintains a comprehensive understanding of the variety of databases available to the Rowan community.  Understands the differences in content among the databases and how to most effectively search for information on the various licensed resources, as well as and on the web. Offers individual or group searching help to students, faculty and residents doing research.
    • Performs higher-level health sciences reference tasks including literature searches. Provides in-house, virtual, and phone assistance to Rowan affiliates.
    • Creates LibGuides for the Library's website to alert students, faculty and staff to the best resources for different courses in the medical curriculum. Develops Guides on various topics to provide information on seasonal or current health-related areas. Notifies course directors about the LibGuide resources available and encourages their integration into Canvas content. Maintains and updates each LibGuide on a regular basis.
    • Serves on University Library committees, task forces, and teams, as well as on relative committees and task forces at RowanSOM.
    • Engages in scholarly activities such as publication in peer-reviewed resources, presentations at professional meetings, and graduate level teaching in an appropriate level program.
    • Performs other duties and team-based activities as required and at opportunistic moments that expand the Library service agenda.
    • Rowan University and the Libraries are committed to advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion through our work at all levels of the organization. The DEI Strategic Action Plan for the university is publicly available, including the Libraries' specific goals (accessible using the All Library Services Units option under the Department/Unit drop-down). More information on the Libraries' DEI work can also be viewed at the following link: Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at Rowan University Libraries.
