    Senior Assistant Librarian: Systems & Digital Strategies Librarian

    Starting Date:

    Spring, 2022

    Minimum Qualifications:

    1) ALA accredited master's degree in library or information science.
    2) Working knowledge and experience with web-based discovery systems/services (e.g. Primo/Primo VE) and one or more of the following systems/applications: unified library services platforms (e.g. Alma), link resolvers, proxy servers, digital asset management systems, digital exhibits, and/or institutional/digital repositories.
    3) Demonstrated knowledge of current and emerging digital technology trends and applications in higher education and/or academic libraries.
    4) Evidence of excellent interpersonal communication skills, the ability to explain difficult or technical concepts in layman's terms, and strong project management skills.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    1) A degree in computer science or a related field.
    2) Demonstrated experience implementing and/or managing unified library services platforms (e.g. Alma), link resolvers, proxy servers, digital asset management systems, digital exhibits, and institutional/digital repositories.
    3) Demonstrated knowledge/experience implementing/supporting library technologies and digital library services. 
    4) Demonstrated programming experience in one or more of the following: JQuery, Java, Ruby, Perl, PHP, Python.

    Duties:

    The primary professional responsibilities include the implementation, overall management, support and development of the University Library's unified library services platform (Alma), and discovery system (Primo/Primo VE), institutional repository (Samvera), digital asset management systems (Luna Imaging), digital collection/archival systems (Omeka, ArchiveSpace) and access/authentication applications (EZproxy). The Systems and Digital Strategies Librarian collaborates with other library personnel to develop policies, procedures and workflows that enhance services and resource management, access, discoverability and preservation of the library's digital collections and e-resources. The Systems & Digital Strategies Librarian will have an opportunity to lead the development and implementation of an overarching digital strategy for the University Library in close collaboration with the University Library Leadership Council and campus partners.  S/he will help to enrich and deepen connections between students, scholars, researchers, and innovators by making available and preserving digital knowledge.

    Salary:

    Appointment: This is a probationary, full-time, 12-month, tenure-track position at the Senior Assistant Librarian rank.

    Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.

    Librarians in the CSU system enjoy full faculty status and as such are eligible for campus service opportunities, sabbatical and other leaves, and additional benefits. Librarians are represented under Unit 3 of the California Faculty Association (CFA).
