    Job Description:
    The Research and Instruction Services Librarian reports to the Head of Research & Instruction Services. The incumbent is responsible for research and instruction services, including library instruction, research consultations, and liaison and collection development work with the Schools of Kinesiology, Social Work, and Health Sciences disciplines The position is also responsible for general library instruction and consultations, meeting the qualifications for tenure and promotion, and other duties as assigned.

    A successful candidate will have a strong public service orientation, excellent interpersonal communication and organizational skills. They should have the ability to work independently and collegially in a demanding and rapidly changing work environment, and knowledge of traditional and electronic sources.

    Job responsibilities include:

    70% Serves as selector and subject specialist liaison for the Schools of Kinesiology and Social Work within the College of Human Sciences & Education, and with Health Sciences disciplines across multiple colleges. Provides outreach, instruction, and specialized research services to faculty and students in those disciplines. Develops discipline-specific web pages and other internet-based materials, such as tutorials and subject, topic, and course guides. Works with faculty in their assigned schools to embed information literacy in the curriculum. Builds department and campus partnerships. Advocates for the use of library services and resources. Supports academic program review and accreditations. Works to increase awareness among faculty and graduate students about issues surrounding scholarly communication, including open access and research impact metrics. Assists students and faculty with evidence synthesis work, including systematic and scoping reviews.

    15% Works to meet promotion and tenure requirements for research and service

    10% Performs general reference and information services, including instruction for general library instruction sessions and general research consultations.

    5% Other duties as assigned.

    Minimum Qualifications

    MLIS or equivalent Master's degree from an ALA-accredited institution.

    Preferred Qualifications

    Bachelor's, master's degree or other advanced work in social work or kinesiology.

    Experience providing support for evidence synthesis, such as systematic and scoping reviews; experience creating tutorials and guides; library service or publication indicative of potential to meet tenure requirements. knowledge/awareness of reference services and library instruction in Kinesiology, Social Work, and Health Sciences.
