The University of New Mexico Health Sciences Library and Informatics Center seeks creative and innovative individuals to serve as Education and Research Librarians with a focus on expanding services to education programs and the research enterprise. These individuals will embed information skills into competency-based health sciences curricula through innovative instructional design, attend curricular meetings for assigned HSC programs, and collaborate with instructors both internal and external to the library. The successful candidates have a passion for integrating diversity, equity, and inclusivity best practices into their teaching and enjoy the challenge of leveraging established and emerging technologies to provide optimal user-centered services. These faculty members also provide research support through expert searching, consultation services and instruction for health sciences researchers. The Education and Research Librarians collaborate with colleagues to develop and present workshops and trainings on topics relevant to the HSC community, such as open access, open science and scholarly communication. These positions report directly to the Division Head for Research, Education and Clinical Information Services, and are part of a team of librarians which provide teaching and research services to our campus community. They will be required to meet research, teaching, publication, and professional service criteria for faculty tenure and promotion. Excellent interpersonal, and communication skills, both oral and written, including the ability to actively listen, understand and articulate user needs are highly valued. This is a full-time, benefits eligible faculty position with a primary appointment in HSLIC. The UNM provides a diversified package of benefits including medical, dental, vision, and life insurance. Responsibilities:

· Engages and participates in a shared services model to collaboratively design and deliver audience-specific curricula, library trainings and workshops, both in-person and online, in order to enhance evidence-based practice and research across the HSC.
· Proactively seeks opportunities to engage with assigned programs to plan curricula, integrate library skills and support the evolving needs of education across the HSC.
· Contributes to HSLIC's support of expert-level reviews, including systematic reviews, by providing consultations.
· Collaborates with HSLIC colleagues to develop and teach instruction sessions on open science, scholarly communication and publishing.
· Serves as a source of expertise in instructional design and learning management systems.
· Utilizes awareness of multiple literacies, such as cultural and visual literacy, to appropriately integrate them into the educational context, and participates in activities that enhance diversity, equity, and inclusion across education, library programs, and the profession.
· Investigates and applies, as appropriate, emerging evidence-based educational innovations to engage learners.
· Develops assessment of instruction practices and assesses efforts around online and in-person learning to improve student learning.
· Develops research guides, with an emphasis on building pedagogy into the resources.
· Provides consultations on using and retrieving literature and effectively managing citations with citation management tools.
· Pursues professional development opportunities, including research, publication, and professional and university service activities.

Qualifications:
Required/Minimum:
- Graduate Degree in Library or Information Science from a program accredited by the American Library Association or in education or instructional design.
- 1 year of experience in providing instruction in a health sciences or academic library or other instructional experience.
- Applicants must be eligible to work in the U.S.
Preferred:
- Experience teaching and developing face-to-face and online instructional sessions for adult learners.
- Experience with learning management systems such as Blackboard Learn, Canvas, or Coursera.
- Experience with assessment practices for instruction.
- Demonstrated ability to apply and incorporate the differences, complexities, and opportunities that diversity brings to instruction.
- Experience providing literature search services, systematic review services and other reference support to members of the health sciences community.
- Familiarity with emerging trends in health sciences librarianship, including evidence-based practice, scholarly communications, and data management.
- Experience building online research guides.
- Demonstrated excellence in written and oral communication skills that encompass interpersonal and organizational communication.
- Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities.
- Demonstrated ability to develop successful collaborative partnerships with faculty in other HSC programs.
- Education, study, or experience in instructional design, education theory, or similar field of study.

The Health Sciences Library & Informatics Center (HSLIC) is New Mexico's only publicly accessible health sciences library, serving the four colleges of the University of New Mexico's Health Sciences Center, the UNM Health System, and the many communities of New Mexico by providing high quality health information, curriculum-engaged instruction, and outreach.
