Greetings all. There have not been any posts to this discussion board for a while, so I thought I would try to start some conversation. I am the Head of the Library at the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown, a regional campus of the University of Pittsburgh. The Pitt system has instituted spending and hiring freezes as a result of possible impending significant reductions in research funding from the federal government. So far, Pitt has not laid off anyone, but if there are significant funding cuts everything will be on the table. It will be interesting to see how regional campuses are treated.

Penn State currently has 19 regional campuses. They recently announced that they will close many of them. PSU said it will announce the closures sometime soon. It is unfortunate because the PSU regional campus system made a college education accessible to many people throughout Pennsylvania. But attendance at many of the campuses has dwindled. It will be interesting and sad to see which campuses are closed.

Please share any developments at your campuses as a result of the possible impending research funding cuts.
