    Dear Colleagues,

Your input is being sought for a study exploring the Use of contemplative pedagogies by academic librarians in Canada and the US. Please find the survey here:

    https://forms.office.com/r/tnPQ1pVyXM

On average, it takes 15 - 30 minutes to complete.

    Intended Participants:

          academic librarians with instructional/teaching responsibilities

employed by libraries in Canada or the United States

    The survey seeks to determine:

    1. How common is the integration of contemplative practices into instructional activities of librarians at post-secondary institutions?
    2. What are some of the practices that are incorporated and what are their perceived impacts?
    3. Which effective practices can be used by librarians when designing sessions that incorporate contemplative pedagogies?
    4. Which institutional supports benefit the integration of contemplative practices/pedagogies in instruction?
    5. Are librarians interested in developing skills/gaining knowledge in this area?

The benefits to participants are primarily related to the opportunity to reflect on their teaching practices and the impact librarian instruction might have on students and their own well-being and wholeness.

The results of the research study have the potential to provide insights to librarians and other professionals who may consider including contemplative practices or pedagogies into their teaching/pedagogical design. Additionally, a need for professional development supports may be identified and may result in the development of professional development/educational supports that can be used broadly by librarians. A benefit to participants may be that they have an opportunity to share their expertise in informing the development of these tools.

The research is being undertaken by Paulina Rousseau, Liaison Librarian, University of Toronto Scarborough Library
