Dear Academic Librarians,
We are writing to ask you to participate in a study of centralized and decentralized collection development models. Collection development refers to the activities and decisions that support building and maintaining library collections over time. Across academic libraries, collection development decisions are made by individuals and groups with varying levels of resource selection, purchasing, and budgetary responsibility.
This survey asks you to answer questions about your collection development and acquisitions responsibilities, your library's approach to collection development, and the benefits and challenges of centralized and decentralized collection development models based on your experiences. Survey respondents will have the opportunity to be entered into a drawing for a gift card.
