Insurance Valuation for General Collections

  • 1.  Insurance Valuation for General Collections

    Posted 2 hours ago

    Hello.

If you are at an institution that has experienced a disaster that has impacted your general collections, we would appreciate any information you can share with respect to insuring and replacing collections for our current study.

We are working on an article to update the existing literature on insurance valuation for general library collections. Most of the existing literature is helpful but dated or incomplete. Our article includes a section where we share information from real-world examples of insurance-related experiences as part of the disaster recovery process for general collections. We would like to tap the collective experiences and knowledge of the library community to help us provide an informative practical section in the article. We aim to write the practical paper we were looking for when tasked with insurance responsibilities at our institutions.

We do not expect the survey to take any more than 10 minutes of your time, depending on how much you would like to share! The survey is only 12 questions (including general demographics of your library).  We would also be happy to chat with you if that is easier than trying to write your thoughts into a Google form. We can keep you and your institution completely anonymous as has been requested by several other schools who were happy to help but didn't necessarily want publicity on their mold problem or insurance company dealings.

We appreciate your time and contributions!
