Greetings, Research Assessment and Metrics Interest Group!

We would like to introduce ourselves as the new co-conveners of the group (and we hope you will share our happiness that having conveners means ResMetIG will not be dissolved!).

We hope to develop some ideas for engaging the group in discussion, virtual meet-ups, etc. over the coming year. If you have suggestions for the kinds of activity you would like to see, please reach out and let us know!

Erin Owens (she/her): I am a Professor in the Newton Gresham Library at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas. July of 2024 will mark my 18th anniversary on the library faculty. Although I have previously served in other roles such as Research & Instruction Librarian for History and Web Services Librarian, my current role is Scholarly Communications Librarian, in which capacity I educate and advise faculty, staff, and students on a range of topics related to the planning, conduct, and dissemination of research (including research metrics!). I also serve as the Associate Director of Library Public Services, in which capacity I coordinate the staff and student workers who keep our library running in Circulation, Reserves, Stacks, Billing, Copy Services, and Interlibrary Loan. I've been a member of ResMetIG since… ok, well, long enough that I can't even remember when, but probably somewhere around 2015 or 2016, LOL! Contact me at eowens@shsu.edu

Dandi Wang: I graduated from the University of Alberta with an MLIS degree last year. As one of the two volunteer librarians at the University of the People, I wear many hats: assisting students and faculty with reference requests, supporting course development, and driving data-informed decision-making in collection management based on library usage. With a diverse skill set in open education, research data management, teaching and learning experience design, and data analytics, my work has focused on comprehensive research data management, research productivity and scholarship assessment, evidence-based learning experience design, and applying context-based machine learning in higher education. I co-led the open-source research impact and DORA-aligned assessments with data professionals at the Cumming School of Medicine, University of Calgary. Currently, I serve as the Thinking Historically for Canada's Future Research Data Management Coordinator, supporting project data needs. You can always find me at dandi@ualberta.ca
