Hello! I'm trying to find some pros and cons of starting a peer-reviewed graduate student journal for nursing like this one from the University of Pennsylvania.
Do you have any other examples for nursing or health sciences? I was able to find a few medical student journals, but none for nursing specifically.
Do you have any experience with this, or any resources on the benefits/drawbacks of peer-reviewed graduate student journals in nursing/health sciences specifically?
I came up with this short list from an article in an international relations journal, but I would like to find something that deals more with nursing and health sciences if it's out there. Thank you!

Pro

Con
|
· Provides a unique experience students would not otherwise receive
· Beginner-friendly introduction to scholarly writing, peer review, and publishing
· Facilitates learning about the academic publishing process
· Opportunities to work with and learn from other researchers in the field
|
· Additional stress for both students and faculty
· Concern over whether students will be able to balance this with other responsibilities
· Students may not be able to provide an adequate level of critique
· Graduate student journals and newer journals have less prestige
