Hello,
The 2026 National Programming Committee (NPC) is seeking proposals for MLA '26 contributed content sessions. This is a "grate" opportunity to share your innovative ideas and expertise on how collaborative efforts are shaping the future of our profession with fellow medical librarians and information professionals.
There are two rounds of proposals to give authors the opportunity to receive feedback and consider resubmitting if not accepted:
Round 1: Contributed Papers and Immersion Sessions - NOW OPEN
Round 2: Lightning Talks and Posters - Opens December
Contributed Papers are 15-minute presentations that fall into two broad categories:
Program papers: Abstracts describe the creation, improvement, and assessment of products, programs, technologies, administrative practices, or services conducted by librarians and information professionals.
Research papers: Abstracts report on designing, conducting, and analyzing a research project.
Immersion Sessions are 75-minute (max) "deep dives" into a single topic. The format may include a panel presentation, group discussion, or other creative format and should include audience engagement or other appropriate activities. MLA Caucuses are encouraged to work together to submit a proposal that will advance skills and competencies of interest to your groups.
All you need to get started on the submission process is your name and email. Your details and progress will be saved, and you will automatically be opted-in to receive reminders about your proposal.
Check the Contributed Content FAQs on MLANET for more details. The Contributed Content Working Group has also developed a comprehensive checklist and rubric to support your submission.
The NPC Cochairs and MLA Headquarters staff hosted the MLA '26 Official Invitation on Thursday, August 21, 2025. Watch the recording for a sneak peek into Milwaukee, Wisconsin, updates from last year's conference, and skip to 24:05 for an overview of contributed content submissions.
If you have any questions, please contact the Contributed Content Working Group.
Warm Regards,
Emily J Glenn, 2026 NPC Cochair
Shenita Peterson, 2026 NPC Cochair
