     LETTER OF INVITATION

    October 2020

Dear APIA academic librarians/academic library administrators,

My name is Binh P. Le and I am a librarian at the Pennsylvania State University. Over the past several years, I have conducted a number of studies on Asian Pacific Islanders American (APIA) librarianship. My current research will focus on Asian Pacific Islanders American academic librarians' professional career satisfaction. The title of my research study is "Asian Pacific Islanders American Academic Librarians and APIA Academic Library Administrators: A Professional Career Survey." The main goals of the study are to examine whether APIA academic librarians and academic library administrators are satisfied with their career choice and the opportunities and the challenges they have encountered throughout their career.  This invitation to participate is open to AIPA academic librarians/academic library administrators. APIA includes East Asian, South Asian, Southeast Asian, and Pacific Islanders Americans. May I ask you for your participation in this study? If you agree, please fill out the enclosed web-based survey (https://pennstate.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_863MWX5NjUyIoYd). The survey should take between 15 and 20 minutes to complete. No identifiable information is being collected. Before filling out the survey, please review the Informed Consent Form and indicate if you consent or do not consent to the statements included in it. I plan to publish the results of the survey in scholar publications (e.g., book chapters, conference proceedings, and peer-reviewed articles) and to present them at national and international conferences.

Thank you for considering my request. If you have any questions, I can be contacted at (215) 881-7426, or via email at bpl1@psu.edu. The survey will close on October 30, 2020.

    Sincerely yours,

    Binh P. Le
