The ACRL Education and Behavioral Sciences Section (EBSS) invites you to join us for our annual virtual discussions forum on Wednesday February 5th at 11AM (PST)/12 noon (MST)/1PM (CST)/2PM (EST):
Finding Common Ground: Using the Psychology Companion Document for Strategic Outreach
Getting invited to teach course-integrated library sessions can be a challenge, especially for new librarians or those unfamiliar with the subject area. How can you show faculty that an information literacy workshop can enhance their students' research skills? This presentation will discuss how subject librarians can use a companion document to highlight the intersection between information literacy goals and disciplinary learning outcomes.
The EBSS Psychology Committee has recently revised the draft psychology companion document to align with the APA Guidelines for the Undergraduate Psychology Major 3.0. The companion document provides common ground for conversations with faculty about achieving shared goals through curriculum mapping, collaborative instruction, building discipline-specific research skills, and developing lifelong learning skills that will serve students well beyond their psychology undergraduate degree. Additionally, we will share learning activities, which incorporate the Framework and APA Guidelines, as practical examples of how to accomplish these goals.
