Core's Competencies and Education for a Career in Cataloging Interest Group invites you to a free webinar - Core Competencies for Cataloging and Metadata: Then and Now
Date & Time: Feb 23, 2024, 1:00 PM CT/02:00 PM ET
Description: The Core Competencies for Cataloging and Metadata was published by ALA in 2017. A recent study by the original task force members (https://doi.org/10.5860/lrts.67n4.114) revealed uses and recommendations for the future of the competencies. The future is now, as a revised version of the document has just been approved by ALA Core. In this webinar, Karen Snow and Beth Shoemaker will present an historical overview of the creation of the competencies document, discuss the recent study, and the revision process and results.
Presenters: Karen Snow, Professor and the Ph.D. Program Director in the School of Information Studies at Dominican University, and Beth Shoemaker, the Head of Bibliographic Services at Victoria University in the University of Toronto.
