Charge: ACRL’s Library EDI Committees Discussion Group seeks to provide a forum for practitioners, especially members of Library Diversity committees, to discuss EDI topics in academic libraries, and share resources useful to library workers engaged in EDI initiatives in libraries. They plan to work to support both library workers who are thinking about starting a diversity initiative and diversity committees that are already established.

  • 1.  Chronicle of Higher Ed Dismantling of DEI tracker/USC report on fighting attacks on DEI

    Posted 20 days ago
Has anyone been following the Chronicle of Higher Education's tracker:  https://www.chronicle.com/article/tracking-higher-eds-dismantling-of-dei
On a more positive note, there's this:

Center Report Uses Research To Fight Attacks On DEI. https://race.usc.edu/2024/03/19/2517/

The report starts with some brief responses to common criticisms of DEI and then includes some longer pieces.  Any thoughts?
Would you like more postings from Chronicle of Higher Ed or do you already get these?

I thought the Center Report was very nicely put together, but I really haven't seen it publicized in any other spaces. I'd like to see it distributed more broadly. I do have to say though, I sometimes wonder if the problem really isn't misinformation, but disinformation. When you watch hearings like that, you really can't help but think that it was very easy to find accurate information. It really feels like they had to dig for the problematic sources they were using, and made an effort to not include other perspectives :/
