Call for Submissions: JELIS Special Section on Organizational Identity & Value of ALISE
Organized by the 2025 ALISE Leadership Development Internship Cohort
Publication Dates: Apr., July, Oct. 2026
About the Special Section
The Association for Library and Information Science Education (ALISE) advances library and information science (LIS) education through impactful research, pedagogical excellence, and a connected community of scholars and educators. As ALISE celebrates 125 years of promoting innovative, high-quality education for the information professions, there is an opportunity to reflect on the organization's unique past contributions and shape its identity moving forward. ALISE continuously seeks to attract more members (including international members) and engage with outside stakeholders (such as professional associations and governing bodies); therefore, understanding who we are will help us better communicate the unique value of the organization and its work for both library and information science and, ultimately, information users.
The Journal of Education for Library and Information Science (JELIS) invites diverse contributions from current and former ALISE members to a special section reflecting on the unique organizational identity of ALISE. What have we been, what are we now, and what do we want to be in the future?

About the Journal
The Journal of Education for Library and Information Science is a fully refereed scholarly periodical that has been published quarterly by the Association for Library and Information Science Education since 1960. The essential purpose of JELIS is to provide support, innovation, and extensive scholarly inquiry in library and information science education (including archives, data science, and other related fields). Submissions to the journal should be in keeping with this essential purpose. JELIS is the primary venue for the publication of research articles, reviews, and brief communications about issues of interest to LIS (broadly conceived) education and pedagogy. Educators and aspiring educators are the principal audiences for the journal content.
