Hello all,
Please consider sharing this fellowship opportunity with researchers at your institutions!
The UC Santa Barbara Library Invites Applications for the Kenneth Karmiole Endowed Research Fellowship 2026.
The Kenneth Karmiole Endowed Research Fellowship program enables research professionals, post-doc scholars and graduate students to pursue research lasting from one to three months in UCSB Library's Special Research Collections.
One annual fellowship of $5,000 will be awarded to a scholar for research in the humanities, sciences, social sciences, visual and performing arts, and/or UCSB history.
Collections available for fellowship-supported research at UCSB include rare books, journals, manuscripts, archives, printed ephemera, maps, photographs and other audiovisual material.
The award is funded by an endowment established by Kenneth Karmiole, an internationally-renowned antiquarian bookseller who earned his bachelor's degree in History from UCSB. He has made previous gifts to the UCSB Library for rare books and manuscripts, and has owned and operated Kenneth Karmiole Bookseller, Inc. since 1976.
The award is open to United States' citizens and permanent residents, Green Card holders, or those with a legal right to work in the U.S.
The deadline for applications is January 30, 2026 and further details, including Contact Information and How to Apply, can be found on the Kenneth Karmiole Endowed Research Fellowship website.
We very much look forward to receiving your application!
